A three workpackages phased project
A Work Package is a set of activities grouped around a specific project objective, allowing work to be organized, responsibilities to be distributed and clearly identified deliverables to be produced.
Work Package 1 (WP1) constitutes the strategic backbone of the ATLANTIC BRIDGES project.
Workpackage 1 – 2026
Analyze & Strategize
Workpackage 1
The Frameworks
WP Leader : Eixo Atlantico
Its main objective is to design and consolidate a transnational strategic framework that strengthens the integration of the land-sea relationship into urban planning processes in Atlantic coastal medium-sized cities, in line with the principles of the triple transition (ecological, economic and social) and the objectives of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme Priority 2 – Blue/Green Environment .
WP1 lays the conceptual and operational foundations that will later be tested through pilot actions under WP2 and capitalised under WP3.
WP1 pursues five main objectives :
1.
Establish local and transnational governance structures.
2.
Analyse existing land-sea integration policies in partner territories.
3.
Exchange experiences and identify transferable good practices.
4.
Develop a joint strategic framework for sustainable coastal urban planning.
5.
Ensure transferability across the wider Atlantic Area
Workpackage 1 main deliverables :

Local Supporting Groups established in each territory

Territorial analytical studies

Report on land-sea integration policies

Report on results from Atlantic Area 2014–2020 projects

Transnational Strategic Framework document

Methodological guidelines for replication
Workpackage 2
The Local Demonstrations
WP Leader : Atlantic Technological University
Work Package 2 (WP2) constitutes the operational and experimental core of the ATLANTIC BRIDGES project.
Its main objective is to translate the strategic framework developed under WP1 into concrete territorial actions through the design, implementation and testing of Local Action Plans in Atlantic coastal medium-sized cities, in line with the principles of the triple transition (ecological, economic and social). WP2 ensures that the project moves beyond strategic reflection and delivers tangible, place-based solutions that strengthen land-sea integration and urban resilience..
Workpackage 2 – 2027
Act & Demonstrate
WP2 pursues five main objectives :

Design Local Action Plans aligned with the transnational strategic framework.
2.
Test innovative and integrated land-sea approaches in real territorial contexts.
3.
Strengthen cooperation between local authorities, ports, academia, SMEs and civil society.
4.
Promote nature-based, inclusive and economically sustainable urban solutions.
5.
Generate evidence-based results to support replication and transferability at Atlantic level.
Workpackage 2 main deliverables :

Local Action Plans developed and adopted in each partner territory

Pilot actions implemented and monitored

Testing of integrated land-sea planning approaches

Assessment of impacts on ecological, economic and social transitions

Recommendations based on pilot results

Operational feedback to improve and consolidate the Strategic Framework
Workpackage 3 – 2028
Capitalize & Transfer
Workpackage 3
The Results Transfers
WP Leader : EM Normandie Business School
Work Package 3 (WP3) constitutes the capitalisation and expansion pillar of the ATLANTIC BRIDGES project.
Its main objective is to consolidate, disseminate and transfer the results generated under WP1 and WP2 in order to strengthen sustainable urban development practices across the wider Atlantic Area, in line with the principles of the triple transition (ecological, economic and social) and the objectives of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme. WP3 ensures that the knowledge, methodologies and tested solutions developed within the partnership go beyond the project consortium and contribute to long-term transnational cooperation and policy influence.
WP3 pursues five main objectives
1.
Capitalise on the results and lessons learned from pilot actions.
2.
Structure and formalise transferable knowledge and methodologies.
3.
Engage additional Atlantic territories beyond the partnership.
4.
Strengthen transnational governance dialogue within the Atlantic Area.
5.
Promote policy uptake and long-term cooperation mechanisms.
Workpackage 3 main deliverables :

Local Action Plans developed and adopted in each partner territory

Pilot actions implemented and monitored

Testing of integrated land-sea planning approaches

Assessment of impacts on ecological, economic and social transitions

Recommendations based on pilot results

Operational feedback to improve and consolidate the Strategic Framework
